Go here for more information on The Grace Hotel Sydney Built in the art deco style of the U.S. Chicago Tribune building and opened on 1930, The Grace Building was originally the headquarters of the Australian department store moguls, the Grace brothers.
During World War II, it became the headquarters for General Douglas Macarthur's South Pacific operations, and was recently classified by the Australian National Trust.
The building has been renovated to the high standards required by today's traveller, with many of the beautiful original features being restored and retained, such as the lifts, stairwells, pressed-metal ceilings, wide hallways, marble flooring and the elegant decorative ironwork. (Of course, all the new additions are in tasteful harmony with the original art deco style).
